Cell and Tissue Engineering

FEKT-MPAN-TBIAk. rok: 2026/2027

The course introduces students to the methods, technologies, and instrumentation used in the fields of cell and tissue engineering in laboratories and research. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the principles and methodologies of cell and tissue engineering with a focus on applications in regenerative medicine. It covers the basics of biomaterials used in tissue engineering, scaffold design and fabrication, cell culture techniques, and the use of bioreactors. The course also includes the role of stem cells, mechanotransduction processes, and strategies for engineering vascular, skin, bone, and cartilage tissues, as well as organ-on-a-chip systems. Emphasis is placed on cell-biomaterial interactions, advanced techniques for characterization of biomaterials and cells, and clinical translation of engineered tissues, including regulatory and ethical aspects.

Pravidla hodnocení a ukončení předmětu

The final grade for the course will be determined by the scores obtained from the midterm tests and the activity
exercises (max. 20 points in total) and the final written examination (max. 80 points).
Only students who have been awarded credit may take the final exam.
- obtaining at least 15 points in the laboratory exercises, including points for the continuous written tests,
- a non-zero score on the continuous written tests,
- a non-zero score on the protocols or homework assignments,
- meeting full attendance requirements.
More detailed conditions for successful completion of the course are set out in the annually updated decree of the course coordinator.

Učební cíle

Cílem kursu je zajistit posluchačům znalosti o technologiích a metodách užívaných v laboratořích zaměřených na buněčné a tkáňové inženýrství.
