Originální abstrakt

This paper documents the first results of ongoing research of development of effervescent atomizer for spraying of waste fuels. Light heating oil (LHO) loaded with solid particles is used to simulate waste liquids. Description of test bench with mixing device to prepare the suspension of LHO with the particles is given here. Single-hole plain orifice effervescent atomizer in outside-in gas injection configuration is used for atomization of the suspension. Atomization process is experimentally studied by Phase Doppler Particle Analyser. Influence of atomizer operation conditions and presence of particles in the LHO on the spray is studied. E-atomizer generated spray shows variable size distribution throughout the spray volume. To describe atomization performance by a single value we introduce a term of Integral Sauter mean diameter. Derivation of this parameter is documented here. It is shown that the presence of the particles in mass concentration up to 5% does not significantly influence atomization process. Droplet size, velocity and other studied parameters are very similar for both pure LHO and for suspension.
