Abstrakt

Self-organized nanostructured surfaces with the unique, tailored morphologies and extended functionalities were synthesized from superimposed Nb, Ta and Al metal layers. The surfaces possess superhydrophobic (excellent water repellent) properties, with the measured contact angles for water higher than 160 deg. Notably, the films are optically transparent, electrically isolating, chemically inert and can made conformal coatings on complex sized/shaped surfaces. Potential applications are for self-cleaning windows and walls, anti-sticking of snow and anticorrosion of metals and microfluidics
