In the Czech Republic dam legislation has developed continuousy in accordance with increasing demands for dam safety.Recently,dam safety regulations have become fragmented into a great number of laws,amendments,national technical standards and guidelines.In this paper the current system of dam legislation in the Czech Republic is briefly described,and some recommendations are proposed for improvements in the present system for dam safety assessment.
