Detecting oxygen ingress into the packaging could signal a breach in the packaging, thereby protecting the customer from purchasing and consuming improperly stored food. For this reason, a photocatalytic oxygen indicator that changes color in the presence of oxygen was developed. Indicator kinetics were studied by measuring the color change of the indicator upon activation of the indicator and upon exposure of the indicator to oxygen.
