Nowadays, electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining attention all over the world; as a promising alternative to the current gas shortage and emission issues. To utilize the benefits of EVs, charging stations are being installed across various locations. Preferably located close to shopping malls and crowded areas, the need for optimized charging control and management raised. In this paper, we discuss the possible smart infrastructure for the electric vehicles` chargers, which utilizes the well-known WiFi technology for the data transmissions in the sub-6GHz licensed-exempt frequency spectrum. As the locations of the chargers exclude the utilization of the legacy approach where the clients connect to one access point, in our case, we perform the set of measurements where the mesh network is established, and the nodes are divided into several layers. The key output of the measurements determines the value of the received signal strength indicator (RSSI), i.e., -80 dBm, at which the data transmissions are possible to do without compromising the success rate.
