Autonomous vehicles will permit vehicle occupants to do activities other than driving, such as reading, resting or using a laptop. These other activities will lead to out of position postures (OOP), compared with a conventional driving position. The main objective of this pilot study is to better understand the kinematic behavior of car occupants in OOP during various severities of emergency braking actions.
