The paper shows the solution of the temperature independent fiber optic Bragg gratings based inclinometer. The principle of the inclinometer uses four sensing gratings situated in the medians of the regular tetrahedron. There is the weight placed in the tetrahedron’s center of gravity, connected to the sensing gratings. Changes in the grating deformations, caused by the change of weight’s gravitation force direction, occur due to the tilt of the inclinometer construction. The grating deformations are evaluated by the wavelength shifts of the reflective light. The angles of rotation around the reference axis can then be calculated. Construction of the inclinometer based on the discussed principle is shown, measured curves of the reflective wavelengths against the tilts of the inclinometer in the two axes are presented and the way of the tilt evaluation from the measured data is indicated. The described solution of the inclinometer is capable of measuring the tilt angles in the two perpendicular horizontal axes in the range of 2π rad with high accuracy and temperature independence.
