Originální abstrakt

In order to support further research and development in the field of Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs), Barium-Magnesium-Aluminium-Silicate (BMAS) was studied as a potentially promising representative of a wide family of silicate materials. BMAS powder was produced prom 15wt%BaO, 7wt%MgO, 28wt% Al2O3 and 500wt% SiO2. The raw mix was fired in a muffle furnace by optimized firing regime of 1200°C/3hour. The final product was crushed in the ball milling device down to the fraction of 20-45 micrometers. The atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique was used to deposit the BMAS coating on a grit-blasted steel sheet substrate. With the aim to obtain the most suitable technological parameters for the spraying process, parameters recommended for pure alumina (Al2O3), yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ), as well as several experimentally designed ones were tested. Opto-digital microscope and digital image analysis were used to evaluate the microstructure (the thickness and the areal porosity were also measured) and X-ray diffraction technique was utilized to identify the phases formed in the as-sprayed coatings.
