Paper deals with analysis of an input circuits of an optical receiver used in optical cable-free communication systems. The paper presents an equivalent circuit that describes the noise and frequency performance of an avalanche photodiode (APD) connected to a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and transfer functions from all noise sources to the receiver output.
