The general purpose machine tool which is able to machine any workpiece is the fable commonly spread among the customers and owners of companies dealing with chip machining. When one assesses the suitability of the machine for the intended investor’s production, it is necessary to consider the combination of more factors. The selection is considerably influenced also by the machine user by his approach to the manufacturing process. At the same time, the machine must also have at least the minimum prerequisites for machining – i. e. the sufficient rigidity, suitable kinematics and technological adaptability. Therefore, this section shall deal with the machine selection issue.

When one assesses the suitability of the machine for the intended investor’s production, it is necessary to consider the combination of more factors.
