The main aim of the paper is to estimate the critical value of an applied stress for the crack propagation from sharp tip of V-notch for two kinds of materials and different V-notch opening angles. The stability criteria based on strain energy density factor and average critical stress are applied and results are compared with experimental data taken from literature.
