Learning outcomes

  • Knowledge

The student understands and can use basic terminology in the design and assessment of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student can summarize and classify the different types of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student can distinguish between the basic types of construction materials and their properties.

  • Skills

The student is able to apply the above knowledge in relation to further work and skills development in the design and assessment of load-bearing structures and transport structures. The student is able to determine the basic loads of structures and is able to work with the basic principles, rules and procedures in the design of selected metal, timber and concrete structures and within transport structures particularly road and rail structures.

  • Competences

The student is able to apply the above knowledge and skills in further study of the more challenging issues of detailed principles and procedures in the design of load bearing structures and transport structures.

Pravidla hodnocení a ukončení předmětu

The course is divided into two sub-sections: 'construction' and 'traffic engineering'.

Lectures

Attendance at lectures is optional but recommended.

A written examination for both sub-sections is required at the end of the course.

Credit is required for the practicals in order to participate in the examination.

The requirement for passing the exam is knowledge and overall understanding of the topics covered in both subparts of the course.

Exercises

Participation in the exercises is required.

Successful completion of the exercises is a credit.

Attendance is a common condition for obtaining credit in both parts.

A condition for obtaining credit in the sub-part "construction" is the completion of the assigned independent practical examples (tasks).

The condition for obtaining credit for the sub-part "transport structures" is the processing of the assigned independent practical examples (tasks).

Successful completion of the quiz test is a condition for passing the exam.
