Floods have been more and more frequent in central Europe recently. Therefore, a methodology for fast assessment of the degree of damage to properties in flood afflicted areas has been requested. Experience from recent years (1997, 2002, 2006 in the Czech Republic) shows that these areas are vast having tens or hundreds of km2. A tool is needed which would allow for fast establishment of potential damage and pronouncement of the afflicted area an area of natural disaster. Such a tool is currently not available
