In this chapter of the book the current condition of the vax cyllinders and their copies is described from the sound processing point of view. There are a lot of kinds of distortions (clicks, crackles, wideband noise). Special approaches for filtering these defects are described. Thanks to the modern methods for sound processing the historical value of the recordings was maintained.
