Market liberalization of telecommunication services isclosely related to efforts aimed at breaking the monopoly of Telecom a.s. The principal reason given is the effort to make these services cheaper and thus more accesible, and to prove that monopoly is not the best solution that would ensure the most advantageous conditions for both providers and users of telecommunication services. The present paper is intendent to contribute to having a more objective view of the problems concerning monopoly and competition.
