Originální abstrakt

The principle of sustainable building results in the necessity to design structures for a specific (requested) service life, which allows for the more objective evaluation and comparison of alternative solutions which avoid the risk of adverse effects. Stochastic/probabilistic approaches are given preference, and will be utilized together with local climate considerations and mathematical modelling in agreement with EN 1990 "Rules for designing structures", Appendix B, and ISO 2394 "General principles on reliability for structures". It has to be noted that the current codes are more or less "prescriptive" only, providing no clear instructions in this respect and not allowing for direct designs for specified service lives.
