Most Czech firms need intensive and efficient communication, not only inside firm but also with their business partners and clients. A very interesting solution of a vocal communication in the firms' networks is IP telephony. It is based on transmission of the voice through data network. IP telephones transmit speech with some type of compression over communication networks based on IP protocol. The voice is transmitted together with other data like e-mail messages in one network. For users the call made by an IP telephone is similar to a common telephone call over PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). IP telephony could be a way for firms to reduce communication expenditure. It is very useful in firms with several organizational units situated in the Czech Republic and in foreign countries.
