The traffic management mechanism for the Available Bit Rate (ABR) service in ATM networks uses a closed loop feedback control scheme to dynamically regulate data traffic between sources and destinations. The switch mechanism is a critical part of this feedback control loop. This paper deals with some basic algorithms of the ABR service flow control procedure for ATM switch implementation.
