Many devices, which dispose of only asynchronous serial interface, however, make possible the communication at higher speeds (up to 1 Mbit/s). In such cases the maximum baud rate of the serial port is greatly restrictive on the computer side. A possible solution is realizing the converter between parallel and serial interface.
