In today`s world, where all the computing revolves around the concept of networking, the work of system administrators has been more and more difficult. There are many reasons adminstrators would like to monitor network devices: bandwith utilization, operational state of links, problems with the cabling or rounting information distributed between devices, etc. Monitoring network activity is also a good starting point for discovering security problems.
