Web services represent a technology providing data exchange in the Internet distributed environment through remote procedure calls (RPC). Web services are characterized by their easy and straightforward definition, to which the type of web service communication is related. It is commonly stateless. When a stateful communication is needed, it must be provided by the hosting web service environment. This article deals with some of available techniques used to ensure this type of communication, together with the design of solution for a stateful web service placed on an IIS server using the WSE library.
