The growth of networked multimedia systems has complicated copyright enforcement relative to digital images. One way to protect the copyright of digital images is to add an invisible structure to the image to identify the owner. This is referred to as a digital watermark. Watermarking has been increasingly recognized as a highly effective means of protecting the intellectual property rights associated with multimedia data. This paper describes a watermark algorithm for the wavelet domain. The same domain is also used for the popular JPEG2000 image compression technique.
