Artificial intelligence is reshaping team creativity and innovation in the knowledge economy. This paper argues that AI neither simply enhances nor constrains creativity; rather, it transforms the mechanisms through which creative outcomes emerge. Drawing on recent empirical and conceptual studies, the analysis shows that team creativity reaches its highest potential when AI functions as a collaborative partner that supports exploration, knowledge sharing, and the generation of diverse perspectives. In contrast, uncritical acceptance of AI-generated outputs leads to cognitive fixation, reduced idea diversity, and diminished original thinking - the so-called diversity paradox. Effective human - AI co-creation preserves human agency, strengthens creative self-efficacy, and depends on complementary organizational factors such as transformational leadership, team cohesion, and learning systems. The paper advances a human-centered model of AI-driven innovation that prioritizes augmentation over replacement, exploration over ready-made solutions, diversity of thought, and sustained human control.
