Originální abstrakt

Miniature multizone Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors are a rapidly developing technology used in applications requiring compact, low-cost depth sensing, including robotics, IoT, gesture recognition or rehabilitation. Motivated by our previous work on multispectral sensor fusion, and supported by the experimental facilities of the RICAIP Testbed, this paper experimentally evaluates key performance characteristics of the VL53L5CX multizone ToF sensor that are critical for accurate geometric data fusion. Specifically, we investigate sensor drift, effective zone width, and the influence of the sharpener parameter on zone geometry. Real zone widths are experimentally determined using a two-board setup at different distances, and they are found to be consistently larger than the theoretical ideal values derived from the sensor field of view. Finally, the effect of the sharpener setting on zone width is analyzed, revealing no significant dependence. The presented results provide practical insights into the spatial characteristics of the VL53L5CX sensor and support its reliable integration into low-cost multisensor data fusion systems.
