Originální abstrakt

A simple introduction to wavelet-based image and video compression for com-puter assisted teaching at the introductory level is proposed in this paper. The basics of the wavelet-based transform and its application in image and video compres-sion are discussed. There are presented the interactive web based Java applets such as image based pyramidal decom-position, block-based motion estimation and compensation and the influence on wavelet-based video compression.
