Originální abstrakt
Long-term cardiac overload induces myocardial remodelling and collagen deposition, leading to irreversible myocardial fibrosis associated with heart failure. Because effective treatment is lacking, improved diagnostics and early prediction are crucial. This study employed LA-ICP-MS for 2D elemental imaging of rat heart tissue exposed to chronic stress, focusing on metals bound in metalloproteins involved in tissue remodelling. The distribution of Fe, Cu, and Zn showed elevated intensities and a positive correlation between Cu and Zn, suggesting altered metal homeostasis and protein expression during remodelling. These elemental changes may serve as potential indicators of myocardial damage and fibrosis development.
