This study conducts a systematic literature review of cybersecurity in the water sector from 2021 to 2025, analysing publications through the PRISMA methodology. The findings reveal growing number of research, led by Europe and Asia, and identify five key themes: digital transformation, governance, technological applications, cyberattack simulations, and environmental aspects. The results show a shift towards digitalisation, yet governance, resilience, and risk management remain areas for further research. Strengthening cybersecurity in the water sector requires integrated technical, policy, and collaborative frameworks to protect this critical infrastructure.
