Originální abstrakt

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are biodegradable and biocompatible polyesters that are synthesized by bacteria as intracellular granules. From an industrial point of view, PHAs are attractive due to their properties similar to synthetic plastics, and in addition do not burden the environment. However, the problem is the production cost. One way to solve this problem is to use extremophiles. One of the representatives of extremophiles, concretely thermophiles, is the new isolate Aneurinibacillus thermoaerophilus CCM 8960. This bacterium is unique in its ability to produce a copolymer of 3-hydroxybutyrate with different proportions of 4-hydroxybutyrate. Furthermore, we also sequenced genome of the bacterium and identified the genes encoding for enzymes involved in PHAs metabolism.
