The tool captures network traffic into a pcap-ng file and continuously determines communicating applications during capture. After the capture is stopped, gathered information is appended to the end of the output file as a custom pcap-ng block. The appended block contains communicating applications associated with captured packets. Based on the appended block, other tools can, for example, filter captured packets or compute statistics of transferred data.
