Traffic data and advanced technologies

The course is actually focused on two areas. Within the first one, students learn in exercises to work practically with data available today, especially the evaluation of image information, video recordings, three-dimensional laser scans, information from traffic monitoring systems, etc. In the second, students learn through lectures about advanced technologies in transport infrastructure and traffic management, i.e. the use of data for traffic management, scenario definition and triggering, telematics systems, weighing of vehicles in motion (WIM), to systems whose dynamic development is still expected, i.e. cooperative systems, C2X communications, smart transport infrastructure and autonomous vehicles.

Pravidla hodnocení a ukončení předmětu

Requirement for completion of the course is active participation in the classes and completion of assigned tasks in the field of data collectionand processing in the transport and traffic.
Mandatory participation in the classes will be checked.

Učební cíle

The aim of the course is, on the one hand, to familiarize students with methods for collecting and analyzing data from the vehicle environment and their subsequent use, especially in the analysis of traffic accidents. On the other hand, students are introduced to the trends in data processing, including the issues of vehicle-to-vehicle communication, urban traffic management and autonomous vehicles.


Upon successful completion of the course, students will gain an overview of current methods and possibilities of using data obtained from video recordings, 3D modelling and other data collection systems and their practical use. Students are introduced to current advanced traffic management systems as well as emerging trends in communications (C2X), smart infrastructure and autonomous vehicle control.
