Originální abstrakt
Machining of hardened steel is a very common technological operation today. The new approaches for higher efficiency are based on the PVD coatings or a use of cooling fluids with efficient EP/lubricating additives. Drill coatings can help to increase wear resistance or to alter contact conditions in a such way that wear effect is reduced. In this study, low-alloyed hardened steels (Rm=1200 MPa) were drilled with TiN, TiCN, TiAlN and TiN/Movic(R) coatings applied on HSS drills. Specific drilling energy and coefficient of friction were calculated to quantify the wear process and functioning of the material interface in the tool life.
