My paper describes the treatment of German and Austrian anti-Nazis who were interned in Canada during the Second World War. Since many of these internees were Jewish, their continual internment and treatment as real prisoners of war had a great deal to do with the prevalent anti-Semitism in the Canadian government and country as a whole. However, the commandant of Camp L (Major Wiggs) near Quebec City showed that not all Canadians shared this opinion and, in Wiggs' case, actually did things to help these internees in making their lives better.
