Originální abstrakt

This article investigates suitable compression methods for efficient storage and processing of medical data. It is obvious that the diagnostics materials (mostly as a ceratin type of image) are increasingly acquired in a digital format. Therefore, common need to daily manipulate huge amount of data brought about the issue of compression. Attention will be given to the processing flow which exploits volumetric nature of medical data and appropriate coding scheme. The final discussion outlines possible directions for future improvements of compression ratio and processing speed.
