Originální abstrakt

There are many variables and characteristics in abrasive water jet cutting process (AWJ) that have big influence on quality finish and on characteristics of material kerf after cutting too. An immediate relation between species of workpiece material and final results obtained after AWJ cutting leads to making a list of all inputs, setting down their influence on AWJ process and making their quantification and qualification also. Only experiences of elder workers or specialists allow to get right setting of all input parameters of AWJ machine and to get effective production as well. Therefore the expert system (ES) with an artificial intelligence – especially fuzzy logic for correcting vague or incorrect values, should be used for specifying and focusing data inputs. This paper provides the research effort on creating of expert system's knowledge base with an application of fuzzy theory for inference system. It includes process of formulating and creating fuzzy inference rules for knowledge base, getting of one output value that describes influence of material characteristics on AWJ cutting process. This output value called index of machinability should be used for prediction of secondary inputs (cutting conditions needed for setting AWJ machine) and relationship and resemblance between input "unknown" material characteristics and known material saved into base of data.
