The aim of this work is to introduce a new concept of hand image segmentation in the thermal spectrum and provide a robust source for the consequent biometric recognition. The hand segmentation in the thermal spectrum is challenging from many reasons, e.g. a possible presence of cold fingers, rings, sleeves, etc. This works describes how to deal with these limitations and how to reach a high recognition accuracy.
