The Brno University of Technology will undergo the renewal of the "HR Excellence in Research Award" (HR Award) in 2026/2027, including an evaluation visit by the assessment committee directly at the university (the so-called on-site visit).
In the period 2023–2026, BUT is in the second implementation phase, meaning it is fulfilling the objectives set out in the revised Action Plan, developed as part of the internal self-assessment at the beginning of 2023. At the beginning of April 2026, the university submitted all required documents and additional information related to the internal self-assessment after three years. Subsequently, BUT will prepare for the external evaluation by the European Commission, the so-called site visit.

Since February 2021 (following the award of the HR Excellence in Research Award), the Brno University of Technology has been in the implementation phase. This phase is based on the overall HRS4R/HR Award process.The duration of the first phase was two years (2021–01/2023). This was followed by the interim assessment (internal self-evaluation of objectives, processes, and activities). The subsequent phase lasts three years (2023–2026). It is followed by the renewal phase, i.e. the renewal of the HR Award, including a visit by the evaluation committee directly at the university.

HR Procedure
The Gap Analysis, together with the OTM-R checklist and the Action Plan are the three mandatory documents required to be completed by institutions, within the 12 months' period after the confirmation of their endorsement letter. The three documents as standard forms/templates must be completed and inserted in the HRS4R E-toolmaker up together with the application for the "HR Excellence in Research Award".
In October 2020 (1. 10. 2020), mandatory documents and other supporting documents have been sent to the European Commission (EC). Confirmation of eligibility 19. 10. 2020.Email from EC 15. 1. 2021 due to the pandemic will be an evaluation of the submitted supporting documents in the extended period (standard is within 3 months of administrative control). Evaluation of materials by 3 independent evaluators / 1 President + 2 members (from different EU countries).
