Power Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Original title in Czech: Silnoproudá elektrotechnika a výkonová elektronikaFEKTAbbreviation: M-SVEAcad. year: 2010/2011

Programme: Electrical, Electronic, Communication and Control Technology

Length of Study: 2 years

Accredited from: Accredited until: 20.7.2015

Profile

The study area Power Electrical and Electronic Engineering (M-SVE) aims to prepare MSc graduates with a profound knowledge of theory, design, construction and application of electrical components and systems in diverse fields of consumer and industrial electrical engineering. The study also embraces the latest aspects of power and control electronics including control of drives in automated production systems.
Within this branch of study, students can specialize in design, construction and production of electrical machines, devices and other eletrotechnical appliances, in design and realization of electrical regulatory drives, power electronics appliances and complex industrial systems.
The graduates of this branch may find employment in major industrial companies, in private start-up companies or as independent entrepreneurs.

Key learning outcomes

Graduate get knowledge of electrical machines, apparatus, electrical drives and power electronics and of related branches such as electronics, measurements and control and computer exploitation Graduates get university grade (MSc., MEng., Ing) of Electrical Eengineering. After a short professional training the graduates may perform technical and manager functions and to rise their career Graduates of the branch Power Electrical and Electronic Engineering may find occupation above all in industry but also in commerce- and other corporations, not only in the electrical area.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

The graduates acquire knowledge of electrical machines, devices, drives and power electronics, and are introduced to related fields of electrical engineering, measurement, regulation and computer use, earning the degree of MSc in electrical engineering. After a short period of professional training, they can assume technical and management positions and progress their career. The graduates of Power Electrical and Electronic Engineering can work not only in industrial, but also in trading and other, not only electrotechnical companies.
