The course is concerned with basics of metrology and measurement theory in technical practice and basic principles of measuring instruments used in control systems. The students are acquainted with methods of measurement, measuring quantities and their units. Properties of measuring devices are discussed as well and the attention is paid to problems of errors and uncertainties in measurement, their analysis and correction. The second part of the course makes students familiar with basic measuring principles and instruments for measuring individual quantities. It concentrates on temperature, pressure and strength, length, flow, humidity, heat quantity, analysis of gases and fluids and various others quantities.
