CEITEC VUT-DS202AAcad. year: 2025/2026
The course focuses on ceramic biomaterials for replacement, repair, and coexistence with hard tissues. The course first introduces students to the structure, properties, and physiology of bone tissue and the biocompatibility of biomaterials, especially with bone tissue. The next part of the course covers the types and properties of bulk and layered bioceramics for orthopedic and dental applications. The course also deals with testing the mechanical properties, tribological properties, and biocompatibility of biomaterials. The conclusion of the course is devoted to the preparation and processing of biomaterials and their applications.
