How the Evaluation Works
IEP evaluates the university based on:
- Self-evaluation reports (SER) from faculties and the university,
- Online meetings with IEP,
- A four-day on-site visit.
I. Self-evaluation Reports
Module 3 – Societal Impact
Each evaluated unit (faculty or university institute) submits a SER for 2019–2023 covering:
- Introductory information about the unit under evaluation
- Recognition by the research community
- Research projects
- Research results with existing or prospective impact on society
- Transfer of results into practice
- The most important activities in the field of popularization of R&D&I and communication with the public
- Implementation of the recommendations in Module 3
Module 4 – Viability
The university reports on its research support activities (2020–2024) in the following areas:
- Organisation and management of R&D&I
- System of support for a quality R&D&I environment and incentive measures for quality science
- Quality control system for R&D&I environment
- Sustainability and resilience of R&D&I
- Structure of human resources
- Academic and research careers
- Gender equality measures
- Mobility of academic and research staff (including sectoral and inter-sectoral mobility)
- Research infrastructure
- Budget and structure of financial resources
- Rules for the use of institutional support
- Important collaborations in R&D&I
- Doctoral studies
- Implementation of the recommendations in Module 4
Module 5 – Strategy and Policies
The university outlines its strategy for 2025–2029:
- Mission and vision of the evaluated institution in R&D&I
- Research and development objectives
- Institutional tools and measures for the implementation of the research and development strategy
- Implementation of the recommendations in Module 5
II. Ministry of Education Online Seminars
The Ministry organised two seminars for evaluators:
- Introductory Seminar: legislation, Methodology 17+, HEIs, HEI2025+, Evaluator’s Guide.
- Practical Seminar: working with SER, evaluation process, on-site visits, report writing.
And also:
- Harmonization meetings for each research field (meeting of Expert Advisory Body with international evaluation panels)
- Training for IEP chairs and university secretaries
III. Online Meetings Between IEP and BUT
BUT will host two IEP online meetings:
- First meeting: introduction of IEP members and materials overview
- Second meeting: clarifying requirements for the on-site visit
IV. On-site Visit
The IEP visit to BUT (9–12 June) will include:
- Faculty and institute visits
- Meetings with management, staff, and doctoral students at individual faculties and university institutes
- Sessions with BUT leadership focused on modules 4 and 5
