Togetherness. That is the one word Viktória Sedláková uses to describe BUT, where she is one of the student faces of this year’s admissions campaign. Viktória is studying the Master’s programme Risk Management of Technical and Economic Systems at the Institute of Forensic Engineering at BUT, where she is also part of the marketing team creating content for social media. Her message to applicants is not to focus only on one specific field they like the most, but to give a chance to programmes from other areas as well.Viktória Sedláková, student at the Institute of Forensic Engineering. | Author: Jan ProkopiusShe herself followed this advice. Originally, she wanted to become a paramedic, but Viktória will eventually become a safety engineer instead. Although her field primarily focuses on the key area of safety, it also offers a range of interdisciplinary perspectives from both technical and economic fields. “The Institute of Forensic Engineering collaborates with several other faculties, which gives the programme an interdisciplinary character that I really like,” the student highlights. In addition to its interdisciplinary nature, Viktória also appreciates the connection between teaching and practice, thanks to which she managed to get a job directly in the field during her studies. Despite that, she still enjoys going to university. “I chose BUT because of the positive feedback, which I can only confirm. I expected a more stressful environment, but it’s not like that at all,” Viktória explains, adding that she would describe the atmosphere at the institute as close-knit and very friendly. There are fewer students, people know each other, and communication with lecturers is therefore very natural and open.Author: Jan ProkopiusAccording to her, Brno as a student city offers the perfect environment not only for studying but also for relaxing. “What I enjoy most is the possibility to unwind wherever you like, whether it’s sports, culture or just sitting down for a coffee. In Brno, everyone can find something they enjoy,” she says with a smile. As part of student life, she is involved in marketing activities and in the BUT admissions campaign. “One of the reasons I joined the campaign was that I help manage the institute’s social media and wanted to understand what is being created across the university and possibly contribute. At first I appeared in videos, and later I was chosen as the face of the institute, which I found very kind and it made me really happy,” Viktória explains with a smile. And what would the future safety engineer say to her high school–graduate self? “That I shouldn’t start at BUT only for my Master’s studies, but already for my Bachelor’s.”You can find more details about studying on the Here You Can Start website, and you can submit your application in the E-application section.Whether you are drawn to modern technologies, cutting-edge science or creative work, don’t hesitate and apply to BUT! #HereYouCanStartRelated articles:
