ICT Project Management

The course focuses on the theoretical and practical definition of key principles, methods and tools of project management with specific emphasis on information and communication technologies. The course is based on the internationally recognised PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA methodologies, reflecting current trends in ICT projects such as agile management and digitalisation. Students will acquire knowledge and skills useful in planning, implementing and controlling ICT projects. It emphasizes the practical application of theoretical knowledge through work on case studies.

Students will receive credit for completing a collaborative semester project as assigned by the instructor in the first practicum.

Aims

The aim of the course is to teach students how to plan and manage ICT projects so that they are completed on time, to the required quality and within budget. The course focuses on the specifics of ICT and knowledge systems project management and also introduces students to current trends and international project management standards (e.g. PRINCE2, PMI, IPMA). The emphasis is on the practical acquisition of methods and tools that support effective planning, implementation and control of projects in a modern enterprise information systems environment.

Syllabus

1. Introduction to Project Management (definition of project management, specifications of project management in the field of IT).

2. International Standards and Project Management Methodologies (IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2) and their application in IT.

3. Definition of Basic Concepts (project, project scope, triple constraint, scope based on 5 attributes, setting project objectives with respect to IT).

4. Pre-project, project, and post-project phases.

5. Pre-project phase (analyses, ideas, and their evaluation).

6. Logical Framework Method (principles, benefits, definition of intent, goals, measurable outputs, key activities, objectively verifiable indicators, means of verification, and assumptions).

7. Project Manager and Team Management in the IT Environment (qualities and skills of an IT project manager, basic characteristics of a team).

8. Project phase (focus on project planning).

9. Risk Management in IT Projects (methods and procedures used for risk management).

10. Project phase (management of IT projects, control, motivation, and communication).

11. Post-project phase (creation of a project knowledge base).

12.-13. Agile Methods in Projects (differences between standard project management and agile methods, principles of agile methods, and basic agile methods).

  2. Analýza současného stavu ve vybrané firmě. 
  3. Analýza zainteresovaných stran.
  4. Metoda logického rámce.
  5.  Analýza rizik.
  6. Vytvoření WBS a RACI matice. 
  7. Časová a zdrojová analýzy projektu.
  8. Sestavení rozpočtu projektu.
  9.  Finalizace projektu.
  10. Plán komunikace a nástroje spolupráce.
  11. Zpětná vazba, evaluace a Lessons Learned.
  12. Prezentace projektu. 
  13. Prezentace projektu. 

Odborné znalosti:
Studenti rozumí principům a metodám projektového řízení.
Znají strukturu a životní cyklus projektu podle mezinárodních metodik (PRINCE2, PMI, IPMA).
Orientují se v moderních trendech projektového řízení, jako je agilní přístup a hybridní modely.
Obecné způsobilosti:
Jsou schopeni spolupracovat v týmu a podílet se na řízení projektových činností.
Odborné dovednosti:
Umí definovat cíle projektu, identifikovat klíčové aktivity a vytvořit časový, rozpočtový a zdrojový plán projektu.
Aplikují metody pro řízení rizik, plánování komunikace a řízení změn v projektu.
