Aims

Goal of the subject is to get acquainted the students with state-of-the-art in the our research field, current research projects and enable easier selection of master thesis topic.

Syllabus

1. Presentation of specialization Fluid engineering and V. Kaplan Department of Fluid Engineering.
2. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - flow simulations in "virtual" laboratory.
3. Design of fluid machines - pumps and hydraulic turbines.
4. Application of CFD for fluid machine design.
5. Biofluid mechanics - blood flow, artificial heart and valves, pump for extracorporal circuit.
6. Experimental fluid mechanics - measurement of hydraulic and mechanical quantities on model and prototype.
7. Dynamics of power machines - vibrations, pulsations within fluid machines and induced by fluid machines.
8. Fluid power mechanisms - high-pressure hydraulics and pneumatics
9. Pipeline technology - transport of liquids and gases, water hammer.
10. Waste water treatment, drinking water treatment.
11. Hydroelasticity - vibrations of elastic bodies submerged in liquid.
12. Cavitation and multiphase flows.
13. Presentation of master thesis topics.
