Management of Information Networks

The course introduce students to instruments, methods and proceeding of communication networks analysis and management. Through communication network system decomposition students learn to define of network components and and to analyze its function. Objective of this course is to have knowledgesnts about network management and capability implementation proper methods for optimalization communication networks.

Entry knowledge

Basic of operating systems, mathematical logic and numerical systems.
Extended knowledge of computer networks (communication and protocols of link, network, presantation and application leyer).

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The assessment is the same for all forms and types of education (including ISP)

Requirements for credit: completion of exercise tasks, preparation of a semester paper on a given topic.

Exam requirements: knowledge of the material covered and its practical application.

Form of the exam: oral – during the oral exam, the student receives two random questions for which he has a limited time of 20 minutes to prepare. The actual exam takes place by discussing the questions. The resulting rating is a weighted arithmetic mean with the following weights:

Assessment of semester work 30%

Oral exam 70%

If it is not possible to take the exam in person, the exam will be taken online via MS Teams. A functional camera on the client side is a necessary condition. Teaching is not controlled.

Aims

The main objective of the course is to familiarise students with basic terms and technologies with respect to computer technologies and computer networks management.
Students will be made familiar with basic principles of computer networks management , especially in the area of their designing and structure, as well as the communication principles. After finishing the course they will be able to design a computer network proactive management and to solve problems regarding communication within computer networks.
