What Might the New Animal Enclosures at the Brno Zoo Look Like? Visit the Exhibition of Student Designs from FCE BUT

Visitors to the zoo rarely see it, yet its daily operation would be impossible without it. We are talking about the animal care and operational facilities. Students of architecture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering BUT have designed a new vision for these essential spaces at Zoo Brno. An exhibition of their final projects presents fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the use of space.

Since the beginning of August, visitors to Zoo Brno have been able to explore an exhibition of urban planning and architectural studies focusing on design proposals for the zoo’s animal care and operational facilities. Under the guidance of Petr Dýr and other lecturers at the Faculty of Civil Engineering BUT architecture students explored how to balance the needs of animals, keepers and zoo operations with high-quality, functional architecture. The result is a diverse showcase of ideas, architectural approaches and possible visions for the future development of the zoo’s facilities.

The exhibition is on display in the Beringia exhibit within the Zoo Brno grounds until the end of September 2026. While visiting, you can also stop by the Tropical Kingdom pavilion, where another exhibition presents the Zoo Brno masterplan created by students under the supervision of Tomáš Pavlovský and Jan Májek.
