Children's dreams from MyMachine will fill the VIDA Center! The event will also feature a presentation by BUT

Children’s ideas that have been transformed into real inventions will come to life on Saturday, June 13, at the Dream Inventions event. Visitors of the VIDA Science Centre will have the opportunity to try out original prototypes created as part of the MyMachine project and take part in a variety of creative workshops. Experts from BUT will introduce visitors to space technologies, robotics, and mechatronics.

The MyMachine project brings together primary school pupils, secondary school students, and university students who work together to create innovative devices. The youngest participants come up with invention ideas, university students develop them into designs, and secondary school students subsequently build functional prototypes. The result is a range of solutions proving that imagination knows no bounds.

In the pilot year of the MyMachine project, students from Brno University of Technology collaborated with pupils and secondary school students, developing the designs of eight inventions, including a joke-telling robot, an LED cap, and a bartender powered by artificial intelligence. The newly created inventions will be officially unveiled this week, and they will be available to the public at Saturday’s Dream Inventions event. Visitors will even have the chance to try some of them for themselves.

Creativity, Electronics and a Digital Laboratory

The programme will feature not only children’s inventions, but also creative workshops and interactive stations. At the YSpace student team stand, visitors can make their own illuminated keychain and learn about the basics of electronics and space research.

In the mechatronics laboratory MechLab, children and their parents will be able to try robot programming and learn how robots are designed and operated. They will also get a glimpse into the world of mechatronics and discover technologies that BUT students encounter in both their studies and research through a series of interactive demonstrations.

“The university’s involvement in science outreach activities for children and young people builds on its long-term commitment to supporting technical education and fostering an interest in science and technology from an early age. Events like these allow visitors to discover in an engaging way how modern technologies are developed and what role future engineers and designers play in their creation,” said Lenka Svobodová, BUT coordinator of the event.

In addition to the programme prepared by Brno University of Technology, the event will offer a range of other activities, including building a motorboat, soldering a Morse code project, and demonstrations from the digital laboratory of Zvěd, the well-known science populariser from ČT:D.

More information about the programme is available on the VIDA! website.
