Profile

The aim of the four-year bachelor's Building Constructions study specialization is the mastering of a comprehensive base of essential theoretical knowledge and general technical knowledge from the whole area of civil engineering. Study in the Building Constructions study specialization within the bachelor's Civil Engineering study programme includes the initial stage of studying theoretical subjects in which the students acquire the needed level of knowledge for mastering the subsequent study of specialised civil-engineering subjects. Economics and social science subjects are also part of the study plan. In the final two semesters of their studies students choose their narrower specialised orientation within the Building Constructions specialization, i.e. the design of building constructions, construction and statics of buildings, technical equipment of buildings or construction technology and management. By passing the specialised professional subject, students will acquire a needed extension of their theoretical and specialised knowledge, and this will enhance their professional profile and their ability to approach the solving of real problems in their field independently and creatively. Under the expert and methodical leadership of a pedagogue, the students will work through a more demanding specialised problem which is set individually, and subsequently defend their work in front of a bachelor's state examination board. In a specialised discussion about the subjects of the studied specialization, the level of the student's knowledge is assessed, as well as his/her ability to apply it when solving technical problems in real life situations.
In the last year of study, students select their specialization from the range offered in the area of building construction design, constructions and statics of buildings, technical equipment of buildings or construction technology and management. By studying these specialised subjects, the students acquire a needed extension of their knowledge of the specific issues in their field of specialization. After graduation, they are able to solve even more demanding specialised problems independently. During their studies, they gain real prerequisites for successful employment in higher level technical and managerial positions. They are able to produce documentation for the design and execution of constructions, for the processing of construction/technical surveys as well as expert opinions and evaluations. They can continue with their education in the consequential master's study programmes to obtain the title of engineer. After gaining the necessary set amount of experience, the graduates of this bachelor's study program can obtain authorisation as an authorised engineer which is awarded by the Czech Chamber of Authorised Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction.
