Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program

  1. Criterion Analysis of Knife-edge Cutting and Shaping Tools

Utilization of producing methods, where are used different kinds of composed knife-edge cutting tools is important mainly in the area of cutting and shearing or shaping operations, make in particular on low-strength sort of basic materials. However, producing of these tools (ply die-cut patterns) and the conditions of their using are in generally characterized by a lot of specific features. Very important thing for their using in forming technology is the knowledge about how to choose appropriate kind of knives material, how to design the cutting tool, how to clamp the knives into punch plates etc. Determination of these parameters and important rules for designing and producing of these very specific kinds of forming tools is the main target of this Ph.D.work.

  6. Optimization of Deep Drawing Technological Process

The work targets firstly on the measuring of parameters which are used as enter data when modeling technological process of deep drawing and secondly on determination of reliability of their valuation. The next part of the work is devoted to understanding how the changes of the enter parameters influence the results of the simulation. The results of simulations will be compared with experimental values and as the final result will be a practical recommendations for using of studied enter parameters in computer simulation of deep drawing technological process together with the evaluation of values reliability.

  7. Progressive technologies of four-axis machining at two-spindle CNC machining centres

Modern technologies of 4-axis continuous machining are very frequently asked operations at double spindle CNC machining centres. These operations belong to the most complicated regarding structures of the programmes, tool selection and quality assessment. 4-axis machining is used in manufacturing industry for many years, but its significance is rapidly growing for production of rotational parts in one rmachining routine. Main advantage of 4-axis machining is the ability to save production time with machining of complex shapes with a single fastening and automatic re-holding. Other advantages can be an use of driven tools (drills, milling cutters, grinding tools) that allows an powerful machining with high quality of machined surface.

  8. Study of foundry defects in heavy castings

In heavy castings, particularly in steel ones, the defects occur that are connected with low cooling rate and reoxidation processes. The work should be aimed at classification of forming defects, determination of main factors influencing the defects formation, and the study of causes and mechanisms of these defects formation.

  9. Study of the efefects of deformation rate and temperature parameters on formability of two-phase bake-hardening steels.

On selected dual-phase bake-hardening steels, which are used in the manufacture of automobile components, the non-uniformities of the distribution of deformations and structural changes shall be assessed, and the effect of increased temperatures and deformation rates on the formability of these alloys evaluated. Constitutive equations for the stress-strain curves shall be written as materials models to be used in the calculation models of current software programs.

Tutor: Forejt Milan, prof. Ing., CSc.

  10. Study of the efefects of deformation rate and temperature parameeters on formability of Ni superalloys

On selected Ni superalloys, which are used in the manufacture of components for the chemical, aircraft, and nuclear power industries, the non-uniformities of the distribution of deformations and structural changes shall be assessed, and the effect of increased temperatures and deformation rates on the formability of these alloys shall be evaluated. Constitutive equations for the stress-strain curves will be written as materials models to be used in the calculation models of current software programs

  12. Suggestion of measures for decreasing the extent of defects in heavy castings

In heavy castings, particularly in steel ones, the defects occur that are connected with low cooling rate and reoxidation processes. The work should be aimed at study of connexion of the defects formation with used technology of liquid steel production and a foundry technology. The work target is to suggest technological treatments resulting in reduction of defects.

  14. The mechanism of burr formations in production technologies and their effective removal.

Burr formation and their removal are typical phenomena of many technologies and very necessary to solve nowadays. On the one hand, there are many needs form producers to finish that problem effectively because of the costs, on the second hand this apparently trivial operation can deteriorate the integrity of the surface and proper function of the part. There are many scientific conferences devoted to the topic (CIRP). The subject of the work includes an analysis of the burr generation for some selected technologies, mathematical functional apparatus, a quantification of material and production variables and recommended strategy for an effective solution of the subject in the industrial environment.
