Abstract:

This thesis aims to researching usage of IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) in traffic engineering.

First part focuses on description, production and general usage of IMUs.

Second part of the thesis describes possible usage of IMUs in traffic engineering:
a) Evaluation of parameters and condition of roads
b) Impact of parameters of roads on vehicle and people

Main focus of the third part is on processing, achieving and evaluating data of experimental measurements, I have done personally. Those are:
•    settlement of IMU
•    starting the vehicle
•    direct drive
•    slanting slope from a residential zone
•    long speed bump

Keywords:

IMU - inertial measurement unit, Traffic engineering, Accelerometer, ADIS 16404
